Are you looking for things to do in Saguenay this month? You’ve come to the right place!

This August, we’ve got a range of fun activities and events catering to both our English speakers and French speakers in the region of Saguenay—Lac-Saint-Jean. From making the most of the summer weather with our walking and hiking clubs, to getting creative at our Paint Club, there’s something for everyone!

In addition to our regularly scheduled activities, August 23 is our annual Open House event, which will feature a variety of fun activities throughout the day.

UPDATE: Community Centre Opening Hours

Please note, the ECO-02 Communtiy Centre will be CLOSED all day on Thursday, August 21.

During the summer, we have been closed during the day on Fridays. Regular opening hours will resume the week starting August 11 (i.e. open all day Friday, August 15).


ECO-02 Open House

Join us for our annual Open House event! We’ll be hosting activities throughout the day, catering to all age groups and giving away awesome door prizes during our Annual General Meeting (AGM).

This year’s theme is Alice in Wonderland!

(08:30–10:00) Senior Community Breakfast

Kickstart your day with a free catered breakfast, coffee, and mini mimosas while connecting with your fellow community members!

(10:00–11:30) AGM - Annual General Meeting

Come take part in our AGM! You’ll have the opportunity to:

  • See a financial overview of ECO-02

  • Learn about our achievements over the past year

  • Vote in new board members*

*Everyone is welcome at the AGM, but only ECO-02 members can participate in the vote.

Attendees can enjoy free coffee, tea, and light snacks during the meeting and you are invited to stay and participate in our Open House activities taking place over the day.

🎁 Door Prizes!

During the meeting, there will be door prizes to win ECO-02 swag AND tickets for a fun activity in Saguenay!

All registered AGM attendees will receive one (1) free entry for the draw.

You will also have the opportunity to gain additional entries on the run up to the event by participating in our weekly Open House Rally Challenges! Follow us on Facebook & Instagram for more information.

Please note: To be eligible to win a prize, you must be present at the AGM. If your name is drawn and you are not in attendance, a new winner will be selected.


(12:00–13:30) Parent & Child Activity

Parents with young children are invited to join us for an indoor picnic and story time activity! Lunches and picnic blankets will be provided by us!

(14:00–16:00) Youth Activity (Ages 13–19)

(16:00–17:00) Youth Pizza Dinner

Younger community members are invited to stay after the the Youth Activity for a free Pizza Dinner!

Paint Club

ECO-02 Paint Club

Date: Monday, August 11 & 25
Time: 6–9pm
Location: ECO-02 Community Centre

Are you into acrylics? Wowed by watercolours? Mad about miniatures? Then join us at Paint Club! It’s the perfect place to work on your current project (or start something new) in a bilingual setting with other creatives.

New to the hobby? We have free materials and miniatures available for first-timers to try!

No booking required — just drop in!

Youth Drop-In Hours

Youth Drop-In House will run continue running weekly until Friday, August 22 — after which we will return to our regular schedule, with sessions taking place every other Friday (the next one being September 5).

These drop-ins give youth aged 13–19 a safe, welcoming place to hang out, socialize, and access our fully equipped Community Space, featuring:

  • Streaming services: Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime Video

  • Video games: PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch

  • Board games

  • English books and manga

  • Study corner

  • Free light snacks and beverages

No registration required—just drop in!


Youth Book Club

Date: Friday, August 8
Time: 5–6:30pm
Location: ECO-02 Community Centre (Conference Room)

Our Youth Book Club is the perfect space to connect with other book lovers, share your latest reads, and discover new favorites.

This gathering takes place in the conference room during Youth Drop-In Hours, so participants can enjoy a quieter discussion space while the usual activities continue in the main community area.

No registration required — just drop by and join the conversation!


Tumble Bums Playgroup

Join us for Tumble Bums, our brand-new monthly drop-in playgroup for parents and caregivers with young children!

Connect with other families, enjoy free coffee and snacks, and let your little ones (ages 6 and under) play, explore, and make new friends in a relaxed, welcoming space.

Ceramics with Céramuze

Looking for an excuse to get out for the evening and enjoy a chill night painting ceramics? Look no further! ECO-02 is hosting a painting night at Céramuze for individuals 18+.

  • $10 includes entry fee + one ceramic piece valued at $20.

  • This event is for individuals 18+

3rd Annual High Tea

Date: Sunday, August 31
Time: 1–3pm
Location: Salle Orphées, 1920 Rue du Centre, Jonqiuère, G7S 2X3

Join ECO-02 for an English afternoon tea, served with sweet and savoury selections.

  • Adult only event

  • Sunday Best dress code - no jeans

  • This activity will be held in English 

  • Transportation can be provided to seniors in need (reservations limited)

  • Financial arrangements can be discussed

Fascinators were a delightful touch last year and will be welcomed again this year, if you still have yours. Otherwise, fascinators will be available at the door for those who would like to participate.

Looking to sharpen your language skills in a relaxed, friendly setting? Whether you’re learning English or French, Speak & Share is the perfect space to practice over a cup of coffee, tea, or hot chocolate.

These informal sessions offer a bilingual environment where you can meet others in the community, build confidence, and have fun with language learning — no pressure, no textbooks, just conversation.

ECO-02 is the English Community Organization supporting English speakers in Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec.

At ECO-02, we offer information on local services and host free or low-cost events to bring people together. While our programs support English speakers first, everyone is welcome! Many of our activities are bilingual and open to all!
